There has been genealogical material floating around for more than 100 years suggesting that Richard Lyon is descended from the Lyon Clan in Scotland and before that from Normandy, France. However, the website http://dgmweb.net/LinComp/Lyon-IngleramDeLions.html makes a good case that there is no documented connection from Richard Lyon to the Scottish family.
