Joseph Loomis born 1590 and Mary White were married 30 Jun 1614 in Messing. This information about the Loomis family comes from the Loomis Family Genealogy online. Also from “Descendants of Joseph Loomis,” (1908).
The Joseph Loomis homestead in Windsor is believed to be the oldest standing homestead in America.
Some websites have claimed to establish a link from Robert White, back through about five generations, to the British royalty lines. If this were correct, it connects the White/Loomis/Searle/Bissell line to many interesting figures of British and European history, including William the Conqueror, Henry I of France, Charlemagne, Rollo Rognvaldsson of Norway and 1st Duke of Normandy, Henry I, Empress Matilda, Henry II and Eleanor of Aquitaine, William Marshall (the greatest knight), numerous "Securities" of the Magna Carta, King John, the first kings of Scotland and the Picts, kings of Sweden and Denmark and Russia and more. HOWEVER, I have received an opinion from two well-known American genealogists specializing in New England ancestry that the jump from Robert White to his ancestral roots in England has not been properly documented at this point. I ALSO NOTE that there are other potential "Bissell ancestor" links to British royalty that are being explored. One likely to produce a "royal" connection is Abigail Downing, the wife of Richard Montague. You'll know when I know...
